 Matthew 10:29-31

Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground unperceived by your Father. And even the hairs of your head are all counted. So do not be afraid; you are of more value than many sparrows.

Until

We do not know ourselves … until we know how we are known.

Until then an existential fear haunts our hearts, not the fear of what each day might bring but the fear of truly being ourselves, giving voice and expression to what we know and love and hold most dear.

We become ourselves only as we hear The Voice saying, “You are my beloved. You are precious to me. You are treasured beyond your wildest imaginings.”

You are delighted in by The Heart who grieves the sparrow’s fall, who knows every hair on your head … and loves every part of you.

You have to hear that many times before it finally sinks in and you know … this Love is the truest thing you will ever know.

Years ago, I watched Pope John Paul II address a crowd in Rome as he called out what, for him, was a signature message, “Do not fear.” I saw and felt a crowd of thousands pulled to their feet in a great swell of joy, their hearts exploding.

They knew and felt The Heart God is … and knew themselves as they are known, beloved beyond all knowing, as are you.

You are made for this joy, intended to hear The Voice, The Heart for which I long, this and every morning.
