Psalm 150

Praise the Lord!
Praise God in his sanctuary;
   praise him in his mighty firmament!
Praise him for his mighty deeds;
   praise him according to his surpassing greatness!
Praise him with trumpet sound;
   praise him with lute and harp!
Praise him with tambourine and dance;
   praise him with strings and pipe!
Praise him with clanging cymbals;
   praise him with loud clashing cymbals!
Let everything that breathes praise the Lord!
Praise the Lord!
Join the joy

Spring is delayed. April got lost on its way north, but the sun shines, greeting us each morning with the promise of warmth to come.

Bird calls create an early morning cacophony across the neighborhood. This no symphony, more like the excited shouts of children just released from bondage into a tree-top playground.

These, too, give praise. Everything gives praise.

The joy, the excitement of every living thing, the color and texture, too, of the inanimate-everything speaks with whatever voice the Creator has given it.

Look around. Listen. You can see and hear the joy of creation giving thanks to the Loving Mystery from whose heart all things spring into being.

Thomas Aquinas, long ago, described God is Being Itself-or as Isness without limit. And this Great Mystery, who cannot be named, shares and pours out Being ... Isness ... so we and all things can be. We are alive with the life God is.

This may be a headscratcher, but look around. Every bird celebrating the morning, every stone and tree on my path, every dog and its walker I meet, everything gives praise in the joy of simply being.

Join the joy.
